How it works.
What to expect, start to finish.
Your training conversation covers goals, eligibility, medical requirements, schedules and costs; we set out our approved training scope, instructor qualifications, aircraft availability and the FAA requirements in writing, and your progress to a certificate depends on your training hours and check rides.
Your visit, step by step
- Before
We confirm the weather window the day before and text you where to meet. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring a photo ID.
- During
Your instructor walks you round the aircraft on the preflight check, briefs every step on the ground and hands you the controls once you are safely in the air.
- After
You land with the flight in your logbook and a written training plan, with prices, if you would like to keep going.

The first-flight conversation
A first visit starts on the ground: goals, instructor introduction, aircraft walkaround and the shape of a lesson. Cirrus’ training approach shows how digital preparation and instructor-led flight learning can connect from the beginning.
- What the introductory experience includes and weather contingencies
- Medical, age and eligibility questions directed to current guidance
- Aircraft and instructor availability discussed before a booking
Manufacturer and product names belong to their owners and link to official information. No affiliation or authorized-provider status is implied.
Good to know.
How long is the appointment?
Plan on about 60 minutes for your discovery flight. We never rush, and there is always time for questions at the end.
What should I bring?
A photo ID, closed-toe shoes and sunglasses. We provide the headset and everything else.
Can I bring guests?
One guest can usually ride along in the back seat, within the aircraft’s weight and balance limits. Tell us when you book and we plan the flight around it.
Questions worth bringing.
- What should I understand about the process and inclusions for discovery flights?
- Which medical, age, eligibility and regulatory requirements apply to the training pathway I am considering?
- How are instructor access, aircraft availability, weather cancellations and variable training costs explained?
Before you book.
Every booking starts with a visit. We walk you through everything in person and send a written summary with pricing and dates within two business days. Final details are confirmed when we confirm your date.
“Discovery flights start with a proper briefing and end with you on the controls. I signed up for private training that afternoon.”
