THE DETAILS

How it works.
What to expect, start to finish.

Our surgeon, dietitian and psychologist review your health history, eligibility, risks and alternatives together; surgery follows an individual assessment and long-term follow-up, and outcomes vary between people.

Your visit, step by step

  1. Before

We send a short health questionnaire with your confirmation. Arrive ten minutes early and bring a list of medications and any previous records.

  2. During

Your clinician reviews where you are against your plan, listens to what has changed and agrees the next step with you.

  3. After

You leave with written notes from the visit, a direct line for questions and, if you would like one, your next visit already booked.

Know the names.

What you eat before and after surgery depends on the operation. This is the reference we start from when we plan your nutrition with you.

ASMBS / Procedure field guide

Sleeve and bypass, side by side

Sleeve gastrectomy removes part of the stomach; gastric bypass changes the stomach and reroutes part of the intestine. Anatomy, reflux, health history and nutritional needs shape a surgeon-led comparison.

  • Ask about irreversible changes and alternatives.
  • Discuss risks and the need for long-term supplementation review.
  • Understand how the choice affects future investigations and care.

Good to know.

What happens at a visit?

Unhurried time with your care team. At your first visit we learn what matters to you and agree a plan together; after that, each visit reviews how things are going and the next step. Nothing changes in your plan without your agreement.

How do you measure progress?

We agree a few clear milestones at the start and review them with you at every visit, so progress is measured rather than guessed.

How do I prepare?

Bring your questions and anything you would like us to see, such as previous results or photographs. If a visit needs any preparation, we tell you when you book and again in your confirmation.

Questions worth bringing.

  • What should an individual assessment clarify before I consider nutrition preparation?
  • Which clinical assessments and non-surgical alternatives are considered before a surgical recommendation?
  • What nutritional monitoring, supplementation discussions and long-term follow-up would a care plan require?

Before you book.

“Nutrition preparation with Sofia made the first weeks manageable. Weekly check-ins, recipes we still cook, no judgment.”
