How it works.
What to expect, start to finish.
After significant weight loss we plan the arms, abdomen, thighs and chest as a sequence, usually two or three operations spaced three months apart, so recovery from each is complete before the next. Your surgeon explains the order, the scars and the timeline at a 60-minute consultation.
- After bariatric surgery
- Arm and thigh skin
- Body lift
Your visit, step by step
- Before
A consultation once your weight has been stable for six months, with a staged plan and a written quote.
- During
Each stage is two to four hours under general anesthesia with an overnight stay.
- After
Compression garments, a review at one week and three months between stages.

Contour is a surgical decision
Power-assisted liposuction uses a powered cannula for fat extraction and contouring. It does not answer the same anatomical question as removing excess skin with an abdominoplasty.
- Separate skin laxity from localized fat.
- Discuss scars, anesthesia and recovery support.
- Ask about staging after substantial weight change.

Good to know.
When is the right time?
Once your weight has been stable for about six months; your surgeon confirms at the consultation.
Does insurance cover it?
Some stages may qualify when skin causes medical problems; our coordinator helps with the paperwork.
Questions worth bringing.
- What should an individual assessment clarify before I consider post-weight-change contouring?
- How will the surgeon assess my health, goals and suitability, including alternatives to surgery?
- Who provides anesthesia, where would surgery take place and how are complications and follow-up handled?
