How it works.
What to expect, start to finish.
A digital scan replaces impression trays, and our laboratory mills each crown from layered ceramic to match the neighboring teeth. You wear a well-fitted temporary for two weeks, and the final crown is bonded, polished and checked for bite at the second visit. Your dentist examines your teeth and gums, takes any imaging needed and talks through the options; diagnosis and an itemized cost are confirmed at that visit.
- Cracked teeth
- After a root canal
- Large old fillings
Your visit, step by step
- Before
An examination and X-ray to confirm the tooth is sound beneath the restoration.
- During
Shaping under local anesthetic, a digital scan and a temporary crown at visit one; bonding and polishing at visit two.
- After
Chew carefully on the temporary; the final crown needs no special care beyond brushing and flossing.

The material behind the smile
IPS e.max CAD is a lithium-disilicate glass ceramic used for selected crowns, veneers and other restorations. Translucency and preparation matter as much as the shade photograph.
- Compare ceramic choice with the demands of the tooth.
- Ask how much healthy tooth structure would be prepared.
- Discuss bite, gum health and ongoing maintenance.
A crown, from scan to ceramic
CEREC connects a digital impression, restoration design and chairside manufacturing. Selected restorations can follow a single-visit workflow; complexity still determines the plan.
- See the scan and proposed restoration design.
- Understand when laboratory work remains appropriate.
- Ask how fit, contacts and bite are checked.

Good to know.
Crown or filling?
Your dentist recommends a crown when a tooth has lost too much structure for a filling to protect it.
How long do crowns last?
Ten to fifteen years or more with good care; we check them at every examination.
Questions worth bringing.
- What examination findings make a crown, bridge or another restorative option worth discussing?
- How would the proposed work affect adjacent teeth, tooth preparation and everyday cleaning?
- Which materials, expected limitations, maintenance needs and future repair options should I compare?
