How it works.
What to expect, start to finish.
IPL targets pigment and broken capillaries without breaking the skin, so you go straight back to your day. Spots darken and flake away within a week, and a series of three sessions, four weeks apart, is where most clients see the clearest change.
- Sun spots
- Redness
- Broken capillaries
Your visit, step by step
- Before
No sun or self-tanner for two weeks before each session.
- During
Cool gel, protective eyewear and a series of bright flashes that feel like a warm snap against the skin.
- After
Sunscreen daily, no picking at darkened spots, and your next session in four weeks.
Know the names.
The makers, products and standards we reference when we talk about IPL & photofacials.
Light, resurfacing, or both?
BBL is a light-based platform; MOXI and HALO are laser platforms. The important comparison is the concern, skin assessment and recovery commitment behind the name.
- Pigment and redness deserve different diagnostic questions.
- Request skin-tone and recent-sun-exposure assessment.
- Compare aftercare, downtime and a staged treatment plan.
Manufacturer and product names belong to their owners and link to official information. No affiliation or authorized-provider status is implied.
Good to know.
Does it treat redness as well as spots?
Yes. IPL treats pigment and vascular redness in the same session, which is why we recommend it for sun-damaged skin.
How long does a session take?
About 45 minutes for the full face, including preparation.
Questions worth bringing.
- How will the clinician assess the cause of my pigment or redness concern before considering IPL?
- How do skin tone, sun exposure and medicines affect eligibility and risk?
- What differences between IPL and laser options, treatment limits and aftercare should I understand?
